Enumerate 5 disadvantages of today’s technology. What should be done to avoid these things?

Dependency
The more advanced society becomes technologically, the more people begin to depend on computers and other forms of technology for everyday existence. This means that when a machine breaks or a computer crashes, humans become almost disabled until the problem is resolved. This kind of dependency on technology puts people at a distinct disadvantage, because they become less self-reliant.

What should be done?
People must practice to do task physically or manually. In this way, we can lessen our dependency with the advancement of technology. We must set limitations with the use of technology so that we can also learn that it is not good to be reliant with technology.

2.      Less Value In Human Workers
Because machines automate processes and do the work of 10 people with one computer, companies find they don't need to employ as many people to get the job done. As machines and computers become even more advanced and efficient, this will continue to be a growing disadvantage of technology and an issue that has a global impact.

What should be done?
We cannot do anything with this one because all firms are looking forward in optimizing their profit and having these advance equipment and facilities will be the best way to meet that. All we can do is to regulate these equipment and facilities with respect to the needs of the firm. We can also apply the fundamentals of ratio and proportion to ensure the number of machine per individual.

3.      It is expensive as capital intensive, which increases the risks as large quantities of products need to be sold to cover the cost of purchasing the equipment.

What should be done?
High-end machines are indeed expensive. To minimize our expenses, we must consider our purchasing power wisely so that we will not encounter any problem towards our goals. And we still have another option, and that is to apply the technique of labor-expensive. Rest assured that this can help you stabilize everything.

4.      Intellectual property ownership is difficult to protect, piracy is inevitable.

What should be done?
Just use encryption to your works. Encryption and other closely related mechanisms can be used to help achieve a wide variety of security objectives especially on Intellectual property.

5.      Difficult to regulate, and therefore potential for corruption is high.
What should be done?
We can use the internet. It may be a viable tool in reversing the trend of corruption by increasing transparency, which discourages corrupt practices. This transparency will give us the whole picture of current transactions and business of our rulers.

Three Greatest ICT Inventors

Cite 3 ICT inventors you like most. Explain why.

I like Steve Jobs because he is one of the greatest contributors to the computing eon. He invented the first Apples (Apple I and II), the expensive iPods, the high-end iPhones, the iPads, Mac OS X and the Pixar. These things were brought to the world by this man who has the greatest gift of his uncanny ability to not only see the future but also to marry innovation with commercial success. Steve Jobs is focusing on reliable use and matching a device to consumers' desire. That is why, he is successful in his ventures of innovating what we have.

2. Mark Zuckerberg

I also admire Mark Zuckerberg. He was a college Drop out of Harvard University but he is currently in the 7th position of wealthiest man in the world according to Forbes with $40.4 Billion net worth. He invented the very famous social networking, facebook. Facebook has given free basic Internet services to more than a billion people in 17 countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Most especially, I like him because Zuckerberg has used his millions to fund a variety of philanthropic causes. The most notable examples came in 2010. In September of that year, he donated $100 million to save the failing Newark Public Schools system in New Jersey. Then, in December 2010, Zuckerberg signed the "Giving Pledge", promising to donate at least 50 percent of his wealth to charity over the course of his lifetime. Other Giving Pledge members include Bill Gates, Warren Buffett and George Lucas. After his donation, Zuckerberg called on other young, wealthy entrepreneurs to follow suit. Mark Zuckerberg is very kind that’s why I admire him.

3. Bill Gates

Lastly, I like Bill Gates. He is the chairman of Microsoft Corporation, the worldwide leader in software, services and solutions that help people and businesses realize their full potential. Under Gates' leadership, Microsoft's mission has been to continually advance and improve software technology, and to make it easier, more cost-effective and more enjoyable for people to use computers. The company is committed to a long-term view, reflected in its industry-leading investment in research and development each year. Gates has donated the proceeds of both books to non-profit organizations that support the use of technology in education and skills development. In addition to his love of computers and software, Gates founded Corbis, which is developing one of the world's largest resources of visual information - a comprehensive digital archive of art and photography from public and private collections around the globe. Philanthropy is very important to Gates. He and his wife, Melinda, started a foundation in 2000 to help reduce inequities in the United States and around the world. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation supports philanthropic initiatives in the areas of global health and learning, with the hope that in the 21st century, advances in these critical areas will be available for all people.

HACK FOR SECURITY

Is it ethical to hack a computer system just to learn how to counter illegal hacking?

In my own opinion, I agree that it is ethical. Nowadays, the enormous development of Internet has gotten many valuable stuffs like the email, google, netizen hubs, social networking, easy access to vast information and many more. In connection, with the technological advances in our recent scenario, there is also disadvantage with this which is the criminal hackers who will secretly “steal” a group’s information and transmit it to the open and exposed internet. Consequently, to overcome from this very alarming issue, it is very practical to knowing how to prevail this kind of illegal actions. And as far as I know, the best tool to lessen this illegal hacking of computer system is to have the knowledge and understanding on how to hack these systems. For me, it is a way of plugging-up internet and data security holes. It is only “ethical” for me if it follows a working strategy with high professional morals and principles without harming or affecting anyone which has the ultimate goal of helping and protecting the privacy of any individuals. And with this, if we already know how to hack a system, we can now help others who were oppressed by illegal hacking by retrieving what were lost from them and help them in assessing to secure and protect their systems. In this way, it is more than ethical because you are helping others. And if we have the skills to counter illegal hacking, we can now lessen the illegal hackers to be able to attack a system or get access to certain information because they are already warned that there is somebody who knows how to hack systems in the same way. Thus, information technology environment risks are reduced.
